moving to new tank. sand question

im moving to a new tank soon. my tanks been up for 2 months, sand bed is about 4" tall. can i reuse my sand if i rinse it out with fresh salt water?

or should i throw all the sand out?

I'm in the same situation. 4" bed, up for 2 months, ready for a new setup. I planned on just dumping it back in and waiting.

Sure..is it really that dirty after 2 months?...I'm gonna rinse and reuse 5 yr old sand, for my upgrade...but you don't need fresh salt water..use tank water (that would usually, be thrown out, as part of a water change with the upgrade).

What else do u have in the 2 month old tank besides the 4 inch sand bed? Any live stock?

ive been using the same sand for last 3 tanks, personally i dont rinse it, i have put it in new tank filled with water about 5" or so then ran a diatom filter, and continued to stir sand up

Just my opinion from past experience. Sand does not move well, too many different bacteria in different levels. I would rinse it off either in fresh salt water or even r/o water. Definately no reason to throw it out
