I have a 34 gal. Solana. In the center rear chamber I have Chemi-Pure Elite and 2 of the bio ball bags. I am removing a bag every 2 weeks or so with the intent of eliminating them. I have plenty of LR and see no need for it.

I would like to add a layer of PureFlo Filter Pad ( 100 micron ) in order to really filter out the water of little particles. My water is clear but when you get close you see little particles. Would I put this in chamber on top of the bag of chemi-pure elite? Can I put it right under my normal filter pad? Obviously the 2nd choice is easier to deal with on a daily basis if I need to clean it or change it.

Thanks!

Be careful putting a pad that dense in a solana. If you restrict the intake, the solana display WILL overflow. I would remove original filter pad in middle chamber and put it there.
I would also mark the display water level with a sharpie to make sure it does not get any higher than normal. If it does remove the pad & see if it drops back to normal.

Trying to understand why you are removing the chemipure... they are good for like 6 months. Ditch the Bioballs.

My bad grammar at work here. I meant I am removing a bag of bio-balls every 2 weeks. I have 2 bags of bio-balls left and also the balls in the stock skimmer. I could probably remove all the balls in one shot, I have a light bio-load, 2 fish. But I would rather take it slow.

But thanks for catching that.

ditch bio balls. Insert purigen and some filter floss, its less dense than a filter pad, but you should change it every 5-7days. Worked wonders for my 34g RSM.
