How much live rock should i do?

How much live rock should i do in my 46g? Ive been told 1-2Ibs per gallon. So i figured i would buy a 50lb box from my local fish store. They said 260$ for 50Ibs which comes out to 5.20$ a pound which sounds reasonably.

1-2 lbs per gallon of water is the rule of thumb, but I think you should be as much is needed to create the aquascape you envision, that should be your #1 goal, if it takes less or more, it should not matter as much, as long as there is live rock... in the other hand you can stock up the sump if one is in the setup with as much as you want

you can find that much rock easily in the for sale forum and save a few bucks usually between $2-3 per pound

$5 lbs per for ROCKS, that is just insane. Think about it man its just ROCKS. $2-3 lbs is more like it. Just wait out for live rocks to go on sale here.

if ur impulsive this hobby is going to be a fortune for you lol. im new to reefing but not impulsive..., take your time and wait for deals on here, i see deals everyday that are amazing..... an example im in si and the stores over here want 8-9 a lb and its shitty rock. on here you can get cured coraline filled rock for 2-5lbs......
