How do you remove strands of hair algae off a reef disk? I have a chalice encrusted on the disk and don't want to irritate the coral but noticed I have some hair algae on one side, its like strands of green hair sticking up. Is there any invert that eats this? I tried manual removal but, it tends to grow back in that area. I can't clip the piece off since the chalice is on it, and don't want to break the chalice.

Use a soft tooth brush. Then dip it in a separate bowl of saltwater to remove any loose strands. Be very careful not to let the algae spread on other rocks or corals.
