How far away from water do you keep mh?

my 250 mh are 7 inches above the water np here.. It's mater of choice the animal you got in ur tank and how you plan on fighting the heat these bulbs give of

Mine are 8" above water level with a 24" deep tank, 6" on my fowlr with a 21" deep tank. My fowlr has anemones hence the need for MH.

Mine were about 3 inches above the water on both my aquapod and my solana. They rested on top of the tank with the legs that came with the light.

Hey NY each manufacturer has theyre own specifications on how high above the water they should be..... I have 2 400W IceCap MH pendants on my 65. IceCap says they should be 8-12 inches aboves but not sure about any other brands. The bottom of my housing is at 8" exactly the bulbs are a little higher obviously- if I were to guess my bulbs themselves are 10 inches off the water.

i just read about the reflectors i have wich are the coralvue pendants, there saying like 13 inches from the water gezz thats a tall canopy

just make sure to keep them high enough that you can reach into your tank without frying your arm or face...

I have lumenbrite pendants and currently have it about 18" from the water surface to the bulb.

I have mine 8 inches from water line, now using 10k bulbs and it works good i have some montipora digitata at the bottom and they keep their purple color! so it also depends the color temperature of the bulbs that you are using!!

I have an "open" canopy with a brace running about 12" above the very top of the canopy. Overall the canopy itself is only about 12-13 inches
