Ideas needed on modding amiracle sl 5

The Amiracle sl 5 is a HOT skimmer/wet/dry filter. I was thinking of making a fuge where the bioballs use to be any ideas on how to do this would be appreciated. It is going on a 29 gal with 25 lbs LR 20 lbs LS.

I'm at work with limited resources, best I could do for now. This is the next model up, but way it works is a power head w/venturi pumps water into protein skimmer chamber, then it overflows into bioball area where it trickles down to another powerhead at bottomwhich then pumps water into final chamber from bottom up until it overflows back into tank. I was thinking of sealing hole at bottom and move powerhead either up or just take out and drill a hole higher in return chamber so fuge could be in middle. Any better ideas would greatly be appreciated. Thanks in advance to all who respond.
