Why my alk drops so fast?!

dOES ANYONE ONE KNOWS WHY I COULD BE DROPPING ALK FAST IM DOSING IT EVERY THREE DAYS OR SO, IS THIS NORMAL? ITS A NEW SETUP, SO IM JUST WONDERING IF THERE IS A REASON? I USE TO RUN A CALCIUM REACTOR AND IT WOULD STABLIZE EVERYTHING ILL DEF BE BUYING ONE SHORTLY JUST WANT TO SEE IF SOMEONE MIGHT KNOW THE CAUSE. THANKS

i dose alk every day. i lose about 1-2 dkh per day. i dose about 25-30 ml a day on a 90 gallon system. i dose calcium every other day at the same dose basically. more info on your tank will better help others understand whats happening in your system. also , what corals do you keep ? tank size?

Alk hates CAPSLOCK, so that may be the cause.

if adding too much strontium chloride that can cause alkalinity to be depleted fast or just try adding a larger dose. but chances are that you are doing something wrong but more info on setup would help

Can you tell us more about the tank...fish load, sump? Fuge? what are you feeding & how often? Any bioballs? What kind of substrate in the DT? What are your Nitrate & Mg levels?

Some pics of the DT & sump would be helpful.
Are you dosing anything beside 2 part?

If you ph is too high, you will experience higher precipitation of calcium & alkalinity. Without a Calcium Reactor, most people will need to dose Alk on a daily basis. Alkalinity is depleted by calcification in corals. Learn this article if you don't already know it, it is the Bible as far as water chemistry. Most important article I have ever read:

Yeah, until I read this article, I never truly understood the relationship between the different chemical compounds in salt water. Everything is related to each other and that is how the ionic balance is created. Everyone should understand this before evening trying to run a reef system!
