Hi guy's after many years of using canister filters im going to attempt to set up my first fuge. I plan on using filter socks as a prefilter , My question might sound sill but how do I install them. I know what they are used for but have never had a fuge or sump so I have no idea where to start and help would be much appreciated. If anyone can post any pics that would really help me to.

Hey J some guys use pvc TEE's that the socks will sit in, but if you want it to look neat CPR makes a filter sock inlet that I used they make them for 4" as well as 7" socks heres a link to a site just to show what Im talking about but any vendor on here would be able to get them for you, as I support using our guys. Anyway heres the inlet I was talking about:
www.aquacave.com/complete-4-sump-inlet-brassembly-filter-sock-holder-br-by-cpr-aquatics-1431.html
These are to use in a sump the display tank drains into the sock then goes through the sump and back to the tank.

Basically, you just stick it in your sump, stick the outflow pipe from your overflow in 'em and that's it. There're many ways to arrange this, but so long as all the water's going through the sock, it doesn't really matter how you get it in there. ;) The top of the sock should be above the water.

True, but make sure it is away from the edge of your sump, unless you enjoy having water flowing onto your floor if the sock should clog.:tired:
