Ok.. So i have a dwarf lion that will only live fish. will not touch or look at anything that is not swimming. All my other fish will eat anything i put in tank.
Flakes,pellets.frozen. is there something i can do to entice it to eat other than live. Do not want to continue feeding rosy's as there is no nutrition factor.

Fenner suggests Hikari floating sticks. Offer them at the same time you're feeding live food. Then introduce less live food over time.

You might also try feeding after the lights are out for a while.

When prattreef got his dwarf lion, we got him to eat by keeping him in an enclosure where we could kind or recreate swimming mysis by blowing on them with a turkey baster in order to entice him. Never had luck with the silversides, but now that little guy eats flakes!

This is what i do.I use a piece of thread to tie a small silverside by the head very loosely and pull it through the water to look like a live fish. When the silverside is in his mouth pull the thread out .Do this at night and don't feed him anything untill he takes the bait.

I sold my last one because I couldnt get it to eat. This time I was well prepared. Heres what you do -

1)get your self some live ghost shrimp (alot) & frozen brine shrimp.
2) starve him out , you want him/her hungry
3)when you feed the lion toss in some live ones and throw in some frozen ones.
4) as you continue to feed the lion over the days put in less live ones and more frozen until your putting all frozen.

*the biggest hurdle is getting the fish to eat JUST ONE frozen piece, after that things will come together

Try feeding him at night time.

Look's like i will have to set him up in his own tank.
The trigger's will get to the food before he even know's the food is coming his way.

Stan, instead of setting up another tank, just use the ole standard breeder net. This way it's still in the same tank and no need to re-acclimate him.

Some good idea's have been given here. Good luck with them. Hope something works.

whoa, watch the triggers. They sometime nip at the lions fins. Weening them onto mysis with ghost shrimp might be your best bet. Just don't use feeder goldfish, they're known to cause fatty liver disease
