hey guys/gals have a question i want a long tentacles anemone really bad the one iam looking at is about 6"... i love corals i have a hammer, plate, yuma, war frag, and a few poly can i get some suggestions.... thx everyone

Whats your lighting, and tank size?
LTA's need a minimum of IMO a 40 gallon with T5HO lighting. They also need a sand bed of at least 3 inches because they plant their foot in the sand, not on rocks.

i have a 120 gal with 2 250w MH, 2 50w T5, and led.. ice cap all in one fixture i have a 3" sand bed iam more worry about it moving around and killing my other corals until it finds its spot i also heard that L.T.A can eat weak fish and i have 2 clownfish and hoping they host it i know its not for sure but crossing my figers

That's the part that sux can I move corals to one side of tank wait for it to find it's spot them go around it.. I love seeing clownfish in them when I see other peoples tanks and I kno it's not a for sure thing they will but hey it will still look cool in the tank but I don't wanna kill any of my other corals that's the problem

the anemone will look for the place with the best flow And light it needs, wich is usually mid to high in the tank, just move all ur coral on the sand closer to the front glass and leave them there for like a week, this will give it enough time to settle, hopefully it truly does, just remember that any flow change, or light change it will move again so make sure that ur power heads are where u plan an leaving them FOREVER! lol or just move your coral again.

anenome's even after a year in one place will still move, had one stay put for a year to only walk the tank and end up 6" over from where it started,

Tank full of sps and lps, i just took my last nem out as it went on a walk also after 6 months

Bubbletips and Magnificas and other carpets live in the rock work and may not be conducive to your tank.
Yes any anemone will walk but IMO most will stay in place as long as you dont change your rocks around or the flow directions.

Unless you plan on dedicating a FOOT of space to it, it is the wrong coral for your tank.
IT will decide where it wants to live and could easily take out many of your corals in it's quest to decide where it is happiest...and it will reserve the right to change it's 'mind' and move about the tank whenever it wants to.
I have seen my anenomes move clear across the tank overnight (2' x 2' ANENOME tank..so I don't much care where they wander to...)
Perhaps a torch coral would fit the bill better for your tank?

Id have to agree with Kathy on this, that anemone looks very big.
As i said it will travel but it is mostly garunteed to stay in the sand, but they sometimes will inflate their foot and go for a swim.

I have a pretty small tank and what I do is isolate the anemone. Basically, give the anemone it's own "island" of LR. In my experience, it won't venture onto the sand (won't work if you have a bare bottom tank). Problem with this is, they tend to get stressed easier as they can't be where they want to be. Fortunately, mine seemed to like the spot I placed it although it did split initially probably due to stress.

yes i do i have a pair of ocellaris clownfish for about 4 months now and have hosted anything they sleep on the sand

so is it the same risk if i was to go with a rose bubble tip anemone and not a LTA???
