A few pointers:
1-The rock gets placed onto the bottom on the tank - do NOT put sand UNDER the rock (eventually some critter will rearrange the sand for you and your rock work will collapse.

2- The best/healthiest tanks I have ever laid eyes on had NO rock leaning against the glass on the side OR againist the rear wall of the tank. This is hugely important & helps keep the water circulating and stops detritus from building up in/under your aquascaping.

3- Fish like to swim thru/sleep in openings in the rock work- and shrimp like to hang out in them - so make it fun for them. :fish:

4- Try and plan before hand on what type of corals you want to keep and where they will look the best (AND considering their requirements). Place rocks that will accommodate those corals where you want them.

5- Try not to keep frags on your sandbed - the tank will end up looking like a frag junk-yard.

6- Plan your flow so water moves throughout the tank with no dead areas.

7- Go into the Tank Thread forum and look for titles of tanks that have 125g in them and gather some ideas on tanks you admire there.

8- Keep asking questions :)

if u look at sanjays thread of his one year anniversary u can get some good ideas from that. tho his tank is a lil bit on the large side, but still a very efficient set up.

Look at aquascaping competitions. I will be setting up a 125 as well. When I aquascape I aquascape with purpose. Meaning I really don't care too much for corals... I aquascape for specific fish to make them feel comfortable.

thanks for all the tips and advice, about 4 or 5 arrangements I think I got it

I got about 200lbs for a 125g tank, but I arranged many caves and placed powerheads throughout to create adequate flow through the rocks

any tips on rock placement as far as coral goes?
