I am new to this hobby and have a 34 gallon Red Sea Max. Anyone know what it means when your powerhead nozzles are shooting out lots of little bubbles or sand? Not actually sure what it is. I really can't imagine it being sand, but maybe it is sand. I actually turned off the pump and turned it right back on and it stopped doing it. Any thoughts? Has this happened to anyone? Anyone know what the problem might be?

thanks for replying. I actually have a all-in-one fish tank. I'm pretty sure i don't have a sump. I'm not really sure. Just got this tank yesterday and am new to this all, so if I sound stupid, don't mind me.

Q:Why does my tank keep filling with thousands of tiny bubbles?A:A low level of microbubbles in marine aquariums is normal and should be expected. Intense skimming is the secret of great water quality, as it both removes organic waste before it can break down AND maintains a high redox level. This is achieved by super-saturating the water with air, i.e. dissolving more gas into the water than is normal for the given temperature and pressure. Once the super-saturated water leaves the skimmer, it “relaxes” and releases the extra gas in the form of microbubbles.

However, if you think that there are too many microbubbles in your MAX, click here to download the new MAX microbubble diagnostic tool (PDF file). This step-by-step flow chart will help you to accurately diagnose the source of your microbubbles and find the correct remedy.

Just found this on the REDSEAMAX main webpage FAQ sections. What do you think? Does this sound correct? My water level has about a little bit less than a quarter inch from the plastic covering of the tank to where the water begins. Do I need to add more water? Where should the height of the water be?

The RSM comes with a sliding thingy by the water intake. Make sure its not to high thus preventing proper flow. All the air is because theres not enough flow in your rear chamber.
Thanks for replying JerseyOD. When you say "slidy thingy" what do you mean? I'm new to this hobby so I'm have a little trouble understanding what you are talking about. Are you saying I need to add more water in the back of the tank (where all the filters are).
