How to care for RO and Salt Water?

I get RO/DI water from my LFS and put in the containers that originally had real saltwater in them. The containers say "Do Not Reuse" but the LFS says this is ok. Thoughts?

Then....
Once I mix the RO water with salt, may I keep it as well in the containers without a pump going? I read that this is ok, but then heard differing opinions, as usual. Obviously I want good water in my tank so for now have gone without storing it.

My concern is one day needing to suddenly put together my QT but not having enough mixed salt water to refill my MT (after using some water from the MT for my QT).

The "Do not reuse" is generally legal protection so that you don't use them for food and sue them. If you're using it for the same purpose, you should be fine.

I don't store water for very long (a few days tops), so I'll let someone else chime in on that question.

Yeah, that's what I figured. I am a lawyer, so I understand how much they get in the way!

I don't keep my RO water with any pump, but if I mix up any saltwater, I either use it the same day or I would keep a pump in there

So what do you guys do if you need a sudden QT? I have the tank, should I keep it running empty?

Also, what about storing RO water in those plastic tubs outside? Is the heat and humidity an issue?

I have outdoor space in NYC so obviously if I can keep them outside makes the most sense.

Plus, have seen some baby roaches coming out of the cardboard containers, which is the last thing I need in my home!!!!!

Keeping the water outside should be fine as long as the water containers are opaque to prevent possible algae growth from sun light exposure. Also, they should be completely sealed to keep out rain water, dirt, animals or insects. Keep in mind that storing the water outside will not allow you to use it immediatley in case of emergency since you will have to adjust the temperatrue up or down (depending on the season) to match your tanks temperature.

I usually mix my water 2 or 3 days before i use it....it stays in a bucket w/o a pump..just give it a shake every so often to move any salt that may settle on the bottom.

i have 2 55 gallons set up 1 for ro and the other is salt so i allways have 50 gallons of each on hand
