I have the opportunity to get multiple lights for my tank but im torn on which one to go with.... 2 of them are 48" metal halides with 4 pc's and the other 2 are 36" MH with 2 T5's.

Some people say go with a 48" for the 72 and just hang it, but other people say go with a 36" and just place it on your tank... FYI with a 48" you get a little excess lighting since the 72bow tapers off and the light just hangs over the edge of the tank. I was talking to someone and they told me to go with a 36" light and place it on my tank, that Il get the same lighting becuase it will be center in my tank and the light will pert rude to the sides.

And also what is a better combo... 2 metal halides with 4 pcs or 2 metal halides and 2 T5's? TIA for the help guys.

What are you trying to keep?

Also... with a 48" I don't get what you mean the light tapers off. The 72 Bow is 48 inches and it fits flush there's no tapering there's full coverage.

If you get a 36" light then there will be tapering as the 72 bow is a 4 foot tank.

Maybe I misread... you want 2x 36" inch lighting or 2x 48" lighting... why on earth would you do that...?

Just get 1 48" light and call it a day.
