Spring water in fish tank

hey guys... been a while since a thread. so today i was going to test my water at my lfs if i was done cycling. i put some water from my tank into the bottle... the bottle was empty but it had what i believed to be spring water still on the walls on the inside of the bottle. like how u finish drinking it and theres still some water sticking in the inside. i dont know if it was tap or spring because i fill those bottles back up with tap sometimes.. so then i decided not to go to my lfs and to go next week... so i wasnt thinking and put the water back in the tank.. then i realized what would happen if it was tap water?? and what if the bottle wasnt clean? so i added some dechlorinator.... what r the effects of spring water for a saltwater tank? mine is 10 gallons

Hey John...I wouldn't worry about it as there would have been too little to make a difference.
There would not have been chlorine in it, so that step wasn't necessary.

Research my friend... don't make it more complicated than what it is for yourself. Rodi water, tap water,springwater, piss water... transfer some water from your tank into the bottle your going to use, and rinse it with your tank water a few times. Buy a few test kits yourself and dont worry about taking it to your lfs. Dont skimp out or be cheap in this hobby. If you dont test you will never learn how to do it your self.

I use spring water for water changes and top offs ....no problems. If you can pick up Target brand water it is actually RO. Says it on the side.

Spring water for topoff? hmmmm That's gets expensive and probably have some dissolved solids?

The OP is NOT asking about using spring water for top off - he is asking if he did something that might cause an issue by having poured water back into his tank - that was stored in a bottle that HAD held either spring or tap water which might have had trace amounts of that in there.
