85 IMO is way too warm. Your o2 levels will be low and are probably at the line where coral metabolism is high and might release their zooxanthellae.
You should bring your temperature down to 81-82 degrees. I use to keep my SPS reef tank at 76-77 but now keep the temperature between 78-80.

I keep mine at 82.0-82.5, although it gets warmer on hot days. No problems with the inhabitants. I remember way back when I first started reefing, I read that Indopacific set-ups should be at 82-84, and Caribbean set-ups should be in the high 70's.

I would not turn off the heater. Tonight when the temperature drops you will end up with a huge swing in temperature. The heater is not making your tank over heat. It only keeps it from going too low. Leave it in, set it for 79.

my temp went from 83 last night to about 77 this AM. pretty big swing but nothing closed up or seem irritated. i try to keep it between 78-80 but its hard on warmer days.

still not trying to be rude as most reef aquarists ask many questions as this hobby can get overwhelming at times but you really need to get t least 1 book and this will answer most if not all your beginner questions.i know i have at least 6 good books i refer to.i also have 50 to 100 magazines that help me out a bunch.it will be the most important item you will own in this hobby
