Im new to the hobby and I recently brought a couple things off someone from the site. In the deal a R/O system was thrown in. I know nothing about it as in what can I use it for and what I benefit by using the system.

Any information would be helpful, please make it as simple as possible :) Thank you

ro/di stands for reverse osmosis/deionization. the whole purpose of this filter is to remove all of the contaminents and impurities in your water. you want to achive a 0 tds (total dissolved solids) reading. city water will have anywhere between 20-200 tds. also all the city water contains a crap load of chemicals that is not safe for our tanks. This is a sample of our water that was tested in 2009. good read
