I'm looking to add 10lbs of tonga branch rock to my tank in order to provide a little diversity in the rock/looks of my setup. I am curious if adding this amount of dry rock can cause a cycle in my tank if added directly to the display tank?

I have a 72ga bowfront w/ approx. 80lbs of LR & 15lbs of rubble in sump, setup has been running since Feb. 2008. Please advise whether to cycle in a seperate 10ga tank or add directly to DT?
Thanks

Without a doubt, you need to cycle it.
I bought over 100 pounds of it and it turned the water brownish in the container I was cycling it in. Not to mention it has the acidic urine-like/low tide smell to it.
