I noticed 2 little crabs in colonies at an LFS one time and thought they were cool. Then a couple weeks later I went back and they were still there so I asked the guy if they were acro crabs and if they were safe and he assured me they were fine. $20 for the two "acro" crabs which I thought was steep but I impulsively had to have them. Well, they were definitely gorilla crabs (black tipped claws, tan color with hair all over them). I was able to catch one once I started seeing damage to my SPS, but the other stays in this little hole that I can't get to. He has done lots and lots of damage to my SPS killing a few frags and harming a couple more, and I need to get him out asap.

Any ideas/techniques on how to remove him? He's about the size of a nickle.

Animal lovers please do not read: I tried just ripping him out using some forcepts with no regard to his safety as well as just trying to crush him with the tip of the forcepts and still no luck?

dont try to rip him out cause its very unlikely that u will get hes main body. just pull the rock or whatever hes in out of the water, and dip it in and out till it knows where to water is going and tries to get to it. or just flush him out with RO water. i do the last one if its in a crack with one way out.

same here! lol but thats the only way ull get him....or....i do remember reading that if u place a cup in the sand with food in it, he would climb in to eat but no be able to get out cause of the frictionless surface.

Correct - it is pretty easy to catch, just use a 16oz beer glass with a piece of raw shrimp in the bottom, tilt it a little against the crab's hiding spot. You'll have it caught in the morning. Good luck
