Sump lights

I'm getting one of those outdoor flood lights at home depot. How do I go about wiring it up so I can plug inside the house

just buy a small used freshwater florescent

those clamp lights can get really hot and could also start a fire

Ok what light fixture should I get Instead

The clamp lights should be fine, just use a cfl bulb and make sure there are a few inches between the 'hot' part of the light and the wood in your stand. It will be fine.
