Chemical warfare???

I was told by a reputable source that chemical warfare can go on between softies and stony? Any feelings on this? Would love some info on this.

Yes.

Running Carbon in your filtration helps neutralize those chemicals.

Oh... just re-read your original post. Not sure about softie > sps specific chemicals.

It goes on with all types. It is just that some types give off more than others.

i actually just got rid of a bunch of leathers cause a few people told me that the reason i cant keep sps in my tank is cause of the leathers are giving toxic off so ill see what happens my water par are great and i do have montis living a ton of lps and a few zoos

So I guess if I want a truly diverse mixed reef I have to start running carbon. I have some mushrooms, leathers, and zoas right now and I have been using Pura Complete by Magnavore in a simplicity reactor with good results, but I would like to start getting some stony ya kno. I think I'll get a couple of small frags and see how it goes. Thanks everyone for your advice

Tank size is important, as is distance between corals....

I thought only some corals gave off toxins (ie zoas, plays, leathers), and that some corals only used "tentacles", The white strands they shoot out when close to another coral,(LPS/SPS, etc)
