Are there any dangers in mixing leathers and LPS in the same reef tank? I'm planning on having mostly LPS but I would like to get an umbrella coral. I'm thinking mostly chemical warfare. I read that running carbon or chemipure helps take coral toxins out of the water.

It is said leathers will release small amounts of toxins into the tank to keep other corals from growing too near to them.

Always a good idea to run carbon in your tank anyway to adsorb any nasties in the water and it keep sthe water nice & clear as well.

You should have no issue with leathers & LPS in the same tank.

it is just fine to mix leathers and lps even sps in the same tank. Carbon is pretty much a requirement for a reef tank replace once a month and your golden

My old tank was soft corals and LPS. You shouldn"t have any problems. using smaller amounts of carbon and changing it more frequently is probably a good idea.
