My sea urchin has lost all of its spikes last night which I believe can be attributed to excessive temperatures due to the hot days. Has it died due to stress?

Thanks from Down Under

how high are your temperatures? if your tank is routinely hitting 90 degrees you should invest in a chiller. or run house air conditioning. How long did you have the urchin? Sometimes they don't acclimate right, same as stars.

Thanks for your assistance guys.

I recently bought the urchin about 4 weeks ago. My tank temp is set at 26C (79F) but a for couple of days the temperature peaked to 30C (86F) - summer is finally arrived!
Just to add salt to the wound, my large blue legged hermit crab and juvenile emperor Angle were lining up to take a few nibbles. So it doesn't surprise me that it was getting stress if I think about it.
I left the urchin over night in my sump but when I checked it in the morning, it smelt a bit funky...

I will have to fix my temp problem before I procure any more fish etc - the summer here can get pretty hot - last summer the temp hit 42C (108F)

Checked my water parameters and other than the temp, set points are all within the limits.

Cheers
