Macro algae

On sunday I added two handfuls of macro algae for the first time to my sump. Yesterday I noticed alot of brown algae all of my live rock. My nitrates also spiked. Does this make any sense?

Diatom bloom?

yes it's Diatom bloom. I think my macroalgae is called caulerpa but I could be wrong. Is diatom bloom good or bad? If it bad, what should I do.

do you have any corals in the tank?

no corals. Just live rock and a few fish
