Ive got a coralife super skimmer 125g for my 90 gallon...water crystal clear...and levels don't spike... Even after a healthy feeding...

and a coralife ss isn't a quality skimmer
+1 after having owned a few skimmers i might be able to help you, also what is your budget ? how heavy or type of system do you plan to run ?

I have an ATB small on my 90 gallon. Skims well, not finiky once dialed in, and runs silent. Not the cheapest, but definitley a quality piece of equipment.

ATB 840 here. love the thing. Runs so quiet that you need visual inspection to know it's running.
Keep in mind that it needs to be in at least 6.5" of water. But when dialed in right you will get nice production everytime.
I get a collection cup full of thick gunk every few days.
