Frag tank

Just got myself a 24"x20"x8" frag tank. Do i need to put a skimmer in there and some live rocks... Or can i get away with egg crate shelf and plenty of water movement.

You should get a good sized sump and put lots of rock in it. You can def use egg crate only. Sand is a mess it will get in/on your corals as well as could bury them if you just have small frags on the sand bed. Also at 8" height I can't imagine you being able to put anything w/ 3 shelves.. you could do 2 about 4-5" apart but with those dimensions I would probably just leave it as 1 level and stick plugs inside egg crate that covers the whole bottom.

I would add a skimmer regardless. As big a sump as possible.
