Live rock

Ok about to set my my 34gal. Solana but I need to know I have some old live rock that's not alive no more... want to know if I can use this rock also and buy some live rock.. but don't know how much live rock I need to buy to cycle my tank..please if any 1 can help me with some info

yes u kan use the rock that isnt alive nomore lil by lil ur old rocks will come back alive n i guess u kan go wit idk 15-25 lb of rocks im not really sure bout that thou this is just a estimate

I usually leave my rock by itself in saltwater for about a week, I do a couple water changes depending on the condition of the rock. After the week, I add either a couple pieces of live rock (less than 10 pounds) or some live sand to the container. Over the next 2-4 weeks I continue to do water changes until the parameters are in line. I don't usually use light or a skimmer, but some people do. Hope this helps.

Use 30-40 lbs of rock in your tank total. If the rock was alive and just dried you should cook it for a while to get the die off out. Look up how to cook live rock for instructions.

Haha it's not what you think. It's just putting your rock in a dark container with a heater and a powerhead and doing large water changes in the container every week until the phosphate is all leached out of the rock.
