To use or not to use the herbie method

My question is to use or not to use the herbie method? I want to run a silent reef tank, so any input would be greatly appreciated. This is going to be my first reef ready tank and my first time taking care of corals.

There are 2 ways to go silent but 1 requires a third hole drilled in I personally like the her or method (I don't use it but seems less complicated of the2) just google search or YouTube a herbie style ( bulkreefsupply has a good vid too) and the beans animal over flow this one seem more complicated but it seems fool proof but uses 3 drains hence the need for an extra hole but u will c do the search it's pretty cool
