What type of tank are you trying to setup? Is there a reason you dont just get an R/O Di filter?

I went with tap water at first and i had Cyano. Understand that it may take awhile before you notice any algae because all that stuff in your tap water gets sucked into your live rock and sand. Once your rock and sand are full they start to release.

Things like change of ph can cause rock and sand to release more immediately. Something like copper building up for while no biggy, but released all at once.... Not good.

Atleast ich wont survive right.

Id RO/DI it and call it a day. I hated the idea at first but now love it. it lasts me forever.
