How "reef safe" are cherub angels? I kept a African flameback for 5 months and after awhile he began to pick at my zoas, which after awhile got him sold. I really enjoyed how it always was swimming in and out of the rocks and how it always came to front once it recognized me. Sold it to my friend and its an angel, no pun intended.

Should I try to find a really small cherub or find another fish ?

I have had my cherub for a few months now. She is prob our favorite fish. Very active, and she hasn't seemed to pick on anything so far, except for my lubbock wrasse. I have zoas, softies, and also have some acros and montis. None of them seem to be appetizing to my cherub thankfully.

I have had an atlantic pygmy angelfish (cherub) for almost a year. I've been reading that those are the least capable of picking at zoas and so far that proved to be true. It picks at rock near corals but never at them. At the same time though, it is my most aggressive fish and while it doesn't chase fish in general, it can be pugnacious when it swims near my clownfish or new fish I'm adding.

I currently and have had an Caribbean Pygmy for the past half year. He has never touched anything in my tank. A matter a fact he even got along very well with a small rock beauty I had. my Carib is still small, maybe an inch and a half, which I'm sure is almost full grown, but like I said, never touched my zoos, leathers, Palys, lps, sps, nothing. Eats anything from frozen to kelp to algae to seaweed to pods. I love that little guy lol. One of my favorite fish...

yea but the 4 of you likely have a larger tank thank 14gal . . . The flame back was a good guy until I cut the feedings down then i started noticing the zoas not where I left em and not open, I am considering the cherub !

I would say a 14 gal is too small for any of the pygmy angels. Your gonna have aggression probs no matter what you do. Pygmyeys also tend to pick on corals when they dont get enough too eat. I had a flame angel that ate several acan frags on me cause I was having nitrate issues and wasnt feeding often
