You'll find there are lots of us on here who are always happy to help. Glad you were able to save most of it. At what % did you have those 3 MP40's on those two sides of tank?

The Vortechs were at 20% at night, and 40% to 60% during the day - alternation through modes during the day but at constant 20% at night. Basically trying to get some good water movement and keep noise in check (though after QuietDrive came out, this became a much easier thing to achieve).

damn, wish i was closer to help you out. I can say I almost understand what you're going through except mine was on a much smaller scale, but has a similar incident 2 weeks ago when my 40b cracked straight down the side and I noticed it late at night as well. Luckily I had a spare 40b on hand so I was able to set that up as a temp tank. Hopefully who ever holds on to your livestock is willing and ready to return it back to you when you get back up on your feet. Good luck!

Wow - yeah I definitely can relate how that felt for you now. It really hits hard. I think I could have managed it better if we hadn't just moved into our first home. Moving a tank is tough and then having this hit was quite a challenge, to say the least.

I didn't attach any strings to the livestock - I just was hoping to give them a chance to live on. As our critters totally rely on us, we naturally feel responsible for them. The fish and coral I'd had for years and felt a real affinity towards - I just wanted to keep em alive and safe.

I'm super paranoid about a leak and I also have the Apex with leak detectors. I'm glad they saved you some damage, but sorry this happened. Good luck on the next build.

Thanks! Yeah those leak detectors are such a worthwhile investment. I guess my advice regarding leaks is: 1) use schedule 80 bulkheads, and if you use schedule 40 be careful with torquing them and 2) each time you move a tank around you risk adding some little stress fracture (less certain about point 2, but I guess this is what happened to me).

Man that was a beautiful tank.

That is much appreciated! I gave it everything I had for 3.5 years. Everything really came together the last two years. Not having all those salty friends around feels like losing a friend, to say the least.

Despite all that I'm determined to come back strong when the time is right - I just want to make sure I think it through and come up with a good setup that will lead to a happy tank!
