What's the max size tank it will handle

Ato is an ato. I wonder what size tank has to with it. I have the more expensive model attached to a 30 gallon sump that serves a 120gallon display tank. Probably could of saved money and got the nano version. Literally same parts, pump and sensor. I wonder what a 50 gallon rating even means. My tunze fills only maybe 15oz of water at a time.
