WOW Michael!!

Would you have any pictures of those fish?

The way I look at it, I need to spend my hard earned money on something. There are worst addictions!!

I look at my tank as "A LIVING WORK OF ART". Better than any Piccaso or Monet! (well maybe equal, ;) ).

That was before digital camera, I do have some picture but they're not the best. The cost of most of the fish I had have come down alot, specially the Red Sea fish. The only fish that has gone up is the Haw. Dragon eel which can run alot of money now.

Most of the fish I had live many year, most over 10 with the longest being a Passer angel to about 16 years. So if you spread out the cost over the years it wasn't that bad.

Right now I have 4 tanks, 2-260, 75 & 35hex which is the reef tank. When I lived in Brooklyn I had 300, 160, 135, 55 and a 75gal reef tank which back then it was hard to keep things alive.

When you want to come by just let me know, anytime at night or on the weekends.

I look at it the same way, gamblers and such spend a lot more money on their addictions, so we can rationalize ours. also art works can range way over 10k, so why not create our own living art for less.

Surprisingly, once the cost (inital investment) for all the equipment has been spent the hobby doesn't cost that much to maintain. Most replacements come in the form of B-day and Xmas presents. I have even lowered my photoperiod to between 6-7 hours a day (my corals seem happier than ever, and my electric bill is much less). I may even lower it further. Fragswaps like we are doing this weekend help alot also, I wish sites like this existed when I first started.

I have friends that spend HUGE amounts of money on expensive toys (cars, bikes, electronic equipment, etc).

solbby, you could not post a pic to change my mind, i liked the $800 polyp of the pink acan on ebay, but that still does not make me want to go out and buy them. i just don't have the money lol. i don't work, well i do, i take care of my son all day, but my husband is a firefighter, and they just don't make the money needed for buying such high priced corals. i sit and look at them and drool, but until the prices become realistic to me, i can't have one. i did see a thread, i think it was on rc where a guy needed id's of corals that a friend gave to him. lol one of them was an acan lord i think. i know it was an acan, and it was a good sized colony, maybe 15+ heads. crazy lol, i need friends like that

Jennie, I completely agree with you on the $800 pink acan on ebay. It was just too much. I wouldn't spend that much either.

But the picture I have blows that one away!!! Give me your email address and promise not to post it anywhere and I will send the picture to you. If you like Lords it will make you absolutely DROOL!
