Sup Phil,

How's your tank doing? Hope everything is going well for you. The fire shrimp that you traded me is doing great, hanging onto my show piece rock.

It's the sunflower coral / sun coral, no need to hand feed. They are easy to care for.

No hand feeding?! I'll take a frag of the sun coral Sam. Only caveat, I won't be able to pick till next Wed. at the earliest. If it's a problem, pass me over. Thanks!

no need to hand feed? i thought those corals dont do very well without hand feeding. do you typically have a lot of food floating around for them?

my experience with the coral was that you had to hand feed it or the polyps would die off one by one.i didn't have cyclopeeze, now that i do and seeing the way the stuff goes all over the tank i guess some of it has to get to the polyps.seems like you would have to feed cyclopeeze a few times a day though for these guys to get enough food, the ones i had were voracious eaters.you also have to be careful not to allow fish or shrimp to pick at the food on it's tentacles and mouth.

Alrite Phil, call me to confirm.

My shrimp don't live on the same neighthood with my sun coral, they are on the opposite side, as for fish, i try to feed up the fish first, so they won't be bother the coral. So if the shrimp and sun poly is competing for food, move them appart. My shrimp pretty much stay in their dan while the lights are on, and roam around when lights are off.

Most of the suncorals do need to be feed directly, usally with large meals like pieces of shrimp and such.

I know some one that have a bunch of large tanks connect to a system, with one of the tanks having a large colony of shrimps, and he keep the sun coral in another tank and never feeds it. It has growth quite a bit and has even added on new polyps.
