pacific has one 4-5" for $400, normally they sell for $75
I was over at Pacific yesterday and spoke with one of the guys working there and he said unless you "have to have one" wait 6 to 9 months and once enough people are vaccinated then Hawaii will open up again and they'll be about $100, he said that they won't go back to $75.

I'm waiting

Just too many people trying make a quick buck.

That's why I'd never over pay because it encourages this behavior

That’s actually great news, I thought Hawaii was closed because of the over fishing, killing, and people even eating the yellow tangs that’s why they closed it from divers and the public etc. When this tang was a little smaller he was fine but I feel bad because I downgraded tanks temporarily and he’s gotten bigger so I figure I’d sell him and get a small one again or a purple small which are also somehow $500-$800 everywhere but like petco.com lol which is insane imo and if someone’s interested in the tang I can be reasonable I just want a good home for it and to get my money back for what I paid for it tbh I’m not about the hustle movement that’s ruining this hobby, I’ve been a reefer for 25 years I briefly got out like 5 yrs ago and it’s a whole new game now, torches for $1000 like what?!?! lol but anyway just looking for someone who wants one and has a large enough tank because I actually set the tank up he’s in just because I felt mine was too small.

NY Fish and Coral has purples for $99. Same as Michael's in Yonkers, in case you're interested

Really I never heard of Michael’s in Yonkers but it sounds like I’m about to make a trip tomorrow, where ny fish and coral?

I've actually been to Michael's NY Aquatic in Yonkers. It isn't much to look at and I was a bit eh about it but I got a goby from there and no issues.

NYC Fish and Corals is in Staten Island.

Liveaquaria just had them for $459 lmao and sold out in 2 days lol you can get the little lab made ones for $279 I think they still have them but this is a Hawaiian and I did my due diligence and right now that’s actually a great price for a yellow tang if you even Google yellow tang it says the market price is upwards of $449 for a tang and for a large $549 but if you’re interested pm me like I said I just want what I paid I will lower the price I was hoping to make a couple bucks to help buy my purple tang but since I was just told about some for $99 that kinda changes everything.

States island thats a ride for me
I’m in westchester but I’m gonna sure go to Michael I appreciate the tip. Happy reefing
Yeah I'm in Chappaqua and it is super easy to get to. Your GPS will take you to a Uhaul place, it's actually right next to it. If you do go then just give him a call when you get there and he'll guide you the rest of the way

Thanks really appreciate it!! Been wanting a purple tang for awhile they’re always so much money it’s insane but the yellow is more now it makes no sense to me lol I want both ideally but don’t have space.

Not positive, but I don’t think that the ‘Hawaii ban’ has anything to do with the ‘virus’.... they have been trying for years to pass legislation against the fish collectors. Plus, now that they know that people will pay more, why would they offer them for less.

So I have been looking around and unless you absolutely, 100% need a wild caught yellow tang (which honestly why does it matter if it's wild or aquacultured) you can get them for $149.00 from Biota Group.

The website is https://www.thebiotagroup.com/. I contacted them via email and was told that the yellow tangs are 1.25" when delivered (yes I know small), they also have a medium size option but those are sold out.

The catch that it is actually $177.00 because shipping is only free if you spend $150.00 or more. So that is the total price unless you want to get anything else from them to bump up over $150.00 or have someone who will go in with you on an order.

Anyway I am ordering one for delivery next Weds so we'll see how it goes.
