I’m sure you’ve done your research but I’m just throwing it out there that octopus don’t really live long. They live for a year and a half on average and typically get shipped in at around 6 months old.

Yeah their short life span really stinks. I actually have been keeping them for a while and have 2 at the moment. It’s very important to know what species you are getting and also getting them between October- April increases the chance of getting a young octopus. One specific species, bimacs, live for about 2 years so I stick to them. This specific tank is actually going to be split in half and possibly house 2 octopuses to experiment with mating them. If you’re interested check out my social media’s on Facebook, tiktok or instagram it’s The Reef Doc.

Why not keep the coral and have an octopus reef tank?
Only certain types of coral can actually survive with an octopus and this specific tank is going to be sub tropical (low 60’s). In my current octo tank I’ve had success with softies, some zoas, mushrooms, gorgonians and strangely enough some anemones.
