As many of you know, my old friend and long-time hobbyist Greg Schiemer passed away a few months ago. The vast quantities of his aquarium livestock, equipment etc. have been sold, parted-out and donated. All that now remains is his 10' 500 gallon aquarium ( 120" x 30" x 32" ) that his wife needs out of the house ASAP. If anyone has serious interest in a massive tank this is a great opportunity, but there are a few significant catches:

1) The system was built on site and will not fit out the door.
2) You need to have the ability to cut it apart, carry it, and transport it.
3) you need to be able to put it back together.

Any reasonable offer will be entertained, but I am not going to burden his wife with casual interest and unrealistic fantasies. The alternative is to smash this thing to bits and remove it, which is not something she relishes doing for obvious reasons.

Please PM me for more details.

Where is the tank located? Does it have a stand and hood? Or just the bare tank? Is it drilled?

Do you have any pictures of the tank/stand/canopy?

Who was the builder? Are they local/available?

Is any of the glass starfire?

The stand is steel wide flange beams on concrete blocks from the pics I've seen. Maybe get in touch with Zooqi in PA he has done this on several occasions. He is also very active in doing projects with local schools and children's hospitals. Which may be a perfect situation. Where is the tank located? I can give someone a hand moving it if needed.

LOL, I've been helping the Schiemers through this whole transition, so, I know ALOT about it and want to make sure this thread stays on track- kids in college and the whole 9 yards - not to mention owning the tank of one of the captive reef pioneers is an honor :)

Hope someone pics this up.

Why cant the tank fit out the door? 30 x 32 should fit or is it impossible to make a turn. sometimes it's easier and cheaper to knock down some walls to get it out. Is this an option?

Not sure of the logistics Sean, but it was built on site for a reason and must be disassembled. Knocking down walls is not an option.

Price is very negotiable with prompt and efficient removal going a long way towards payment... but please, this is the family of a very giving man that is in great pain and need.

I do not believe the tank is starphire and was built by World Class Aquarium of Brooklyn sometime in the '90's.
