I don't know the details of the transactions in question, so I can't say what's right or wrong. I was specifically addressing his statement about the lack of etiquette here compared to RC. If one reads through the numerous posts here in the FS/FT forum, you'd be hard pressed to find many complaints...and that speaks volumes.

In fact, here's an example of "our" etiquette.

A few weeks ago while browsing RC, I saw :bigeyes2: this POST about a MR.com member. Knowing it couldn't be true, I immediately called Kasei (cuz MRers are cool like that ) and let him know he was about to be hunted down . As you can see, everyone's happy.

While I'm sure not every MR member is Mr./Ms. Etiquette, we surely surpass alot of what RC has to offer.

Here's what transponded, I pm corresponded with the seller on the same day and told him I would take it. Informed him I was going to pick it up on saturday and he said fine. Then I requested to get his address and contact number and never heard from him again. I don't mind the fact that he sold it to someone else, but it pisses me off when this person parts out the stuff immediately afterwards. As for your quantitative analysis on number of complaints, its only natural that there is such a disparity when u are looking at a forum with 20k+ members versus one with several hundred or thousand at most. And the reason why I used RC was from my own experience, where I tried to buy an item above the asking price, but it was sold to the first buyer in line. So you may be correct in the fact that there is may be more shady business and complaints, but I'm sure they don't give each other high fives and gloat on the "buy low sell high". Explain to me how that is newbie friendly and how MR is better in this case? At the least, the senior folks should frown on this behavior. This place is not a financial mkt to make money, its suppose to be a hobby forum.

Once again, let me state that I was not addressing the morality of this transaction, but to your statement DIRECTLY comparing RC/MR etiquette. I'll even ignore your statement about trying to "outbid" someone ahead of you in line :)scratchch). Feel free to PM me to further discuss our opinions. :)

Oh, OK - now I see what you are saying -

At this point, there is nothing I can do with the transacation, nor is it my business. I don't, in fact condone any shady activity - since I don't have the facts, however, I can't and won't judge what transpired. For all I know, Slama could have been the first to PM and the other buyer said he'd make the purchase. Again, i don't have the facts

As a reefer, however, I am entitled to make purchases, especially if someone invites the opportunity. Note, earlier on in the thread, I stated my intentions of wanting the light - so, I am still on the straight and narrow as far as I can see. With that, I am not condoning what someone did, but responding to the invitation to be part of what he may be selling.

I have seen this type of thing happen many times - I, personally can't tell you how many times I have been told (by upstanding reefers too) that "I want this", and then never hear from them again. Again, this is not, in any way, how I like to proceed,

Sorry you took my response to the invitation as condoning, but I don't.

Hope you understand.

mdk888, most likely it is the sellers fault if you pm'd first and he sold to slama. and well, he was the first to pick it up. a lot of people do a first come first served type thing. you have to be quick since we are such a small community, and just because slama is now parting it out does not mean he is out to make a huge profit. i am pretty sure that deanos and slama were kidding. there are many people on this board that will practically give things away, not try to charge you a fortune. most likely he wanted certain things and has no need for the rest of the stuff, most likely the seller did not want to part out. so please before you go trying to bash people on a forum that you do not know, or have never dealt with in the past, take a moment to think before you type. is it really his fault that you did not get the tank?

Iif you read my statements carefully, I never directly attacked anyone here. I merely stated the fact that this type of behaviour should be frowned upon. So please don't preach to me that I should get my facts straight before I express my opinion.

wow...see what happens when u take a nap...sheesh. Well...couldnt have known that there was a PM to the seller before I. The fact that he had called me to say that it was available would not prompt me to ask wether or not someone else bid on it...i paid the amount posted-no more, no less. As for my intentions, Jennifer was right, not that I need to explain my purchases, I have no need for certain items, lol, this is the first time ive ever sold anything in this forum.

jim, i still havent gone thru all of it but as soon as i do ill pm u bout the lights...lots extras with those.

posted the nice nano tank no scratrches with stand.
