I am looking for something to further tone down the vibrations from my skimmer pumps.
I may try one of the following. Please let me know if I am getting into the stupid category & stand a chance of wiping out everything in my tank. Keep in mind this will go in the tank, because I already have 1/2 inch padding under my 90g tank & another 1/2" under my 30g sump. Now it's time to add something in the sump besides some sand.

1)Add Styrofoam to sump & place skimmer on top. I will be looking for the same foam that they ship corals in (damn I had a box of this & threw it out).
Alternatively I can obtain some styro from HD.

2)Using Mouse pads in my sump & skimmer atop. Most likely will get these, but I don't know if they are made of neoprene?

3)Silicone pot holders such as these.

4)Buy another 30pnd bag of sand & pile it on the skimmer & hope it has the desired effect.

5)This stuff looks very interesting, but don't know what it's & if it's reef safe. Most likely not & is to be used externally?

6)Some combo of 1-5

I went to Lowes and found little rubber squares in the Plumbing section. They are sort of like the picture from your second link. They are cheap and seem to help.

Fast, I used 1/4" silicone airline tubing rolled up under a Mag in the past it helped a lot.
I have some of that Styrofoam i took a look for you, its not big enough also its dense i dont know if that would help.
Chiefmcfuz, idea is worth a try. I would try the blue ones http://store.aquariumguys.com/yhst-85300140756196/eheimfilter.html
The white ones absorb a lot of water. Keep in mind this is going to raise your skimmer 1" That could effect some skimmers.
