to me looks like some sort of parasite is eating him from the inside. have you tried a dip in hydrogen peroxide? I've dipped corals in 3% hydrogen peroxide for up to 3 minutes with no adverse effects and it kills any bug on them. I usually use it to kill algae and when I get new pieces.

Same here, I use BRS and once you have it dialed down to your corals consumption you just have to monitor every once in a while. You need some reliable test to start and patience to dial it down. good luck setting it up!
