  1. Acrylic Sheets for cheap???

---- I'm curious what your final costs run - if you don't mind... No Problem -- I'll update with the finals, but I know this much now. Full Sheet of cell-cast acrylic = ~$100 Weldon to bond it all together = ?? (haven't looked too much yet) My time, effort, mistakes, learning = FREE Hey, at...
  2. Acrylic Sheets for cheap???

That's why I asked -- wasn't sure what the difference is between the two types. I found a local place that will cut my pieces to order, but they only have the lucite in stock, and I'll have to buy a full sheet of the cast stuff (of which I only need half....) Guess I'll just spend the extra...
  3. Acrylic Sheets for cheap???

I undestand why you'd want the good cell-cast stuff for a large display tank, but is it necessary for a DIY sump? Since the sump's only gonna hold about 10-12 gallons of water, could I just go with 1/4" lucite?
  4. Help with sump/fuge plumbing

Hey all -- I cracked my 10G sump/fuge over the weekend, and got the OK from my wife to build a new, slightly larger acrylic sump, which I plan to raise off of the floor, and put on a low stand, essentially next to my display. I'm planning to raise the sump up, so as to make viewing my fuge...
  5. Couple Q's about my fuge

Hi all -- I'm looking for a little help. My in-sump refugium area has really started to explode with life recently. I'm wondering what, if anything, I should do to help some of the critters (mainly various 'pods) make the move to my display. Also, whilst I'm asking questions, are there any...
  6. Success w/ Fox Coral

Does it get more flow now that its been moved around? I only ask, because before I got my Fox, I read several posts/articles/tips that advised lower lighting levels, and lower flow rates. Mine does really well lower in the tank, and I've got it sort of shielded by some rocks to limit the flow...
  7. aqualight owners

Got replacements for my Coralife Aqualight from www.bigalsonline.com -- great customer service, but one of 'em arrived broken. I emailed, and they replaced it right away, no questions asked, just had to ship the broken one back.
  8. Tiny Baby Snails!!!

Its really cool -- there are dozens of them! Its really exciting, but they're in the way, and I can't clean my glass... Oh well, I'm not gonna kill them on purpose. How big should I let them get before removing some and giving them away? I'm sure they'll run out of food at their current...
  9. Tiny Baby Snails!!!

So I went to run the Magna-float around the glass tonight and found a bunch of teeny tiny snails! Is it normal for snails to breed like that? I thought it was pretty cool. Another question I have: Is there anything I can do to help the little guys along? Will they just eat algae like the...
  10. New hammer coral -- how much space?

Essentially, like the topic says. How much room should I give it so's it can't hurt anybody with the tentacles? Its about 5" X 2" with the polyps extended. I've placed it on its own side of the tank for now, but am going to be stocking up over the next few months, and wanna make sure I'm not...
  11. Better standpipe for overflow box?

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! Built a Stockman standpipe, and it rocks! Thanks for the help!
  12. Better standpipe for overflow box?

Hi all! I've been waiting to have a good question for my first post, but this lame one will have to suffice... I'm trying to find a way to silence my overflow (gurgling, "sucking", etc.) I've looked at the site for the Durso standpipes, but his don't seem like they're geared toward being used...
