If you continue with this hobby, you will soon notice that the glass box containing the water is the cheapest part of the system. It also needs to be the most reliable, unless you want your room filled with water and dead fish. :-) Don't skimp and get a tank that was professionally made.

Almost any grocery store now carries 1 Gal Poland Spring distilled water. Don't see anything wrong with using it, but you will have to add salt of course.

Mag 9.5 used. Bought as a part of the setup from a fellow reefer. He only used it for a few months he said. Have brand new impeller + another one that was in it originally. Have the box and manual as well. $85 cash. Pick up in Port Washington or I can drag it into midtown next week.

I would make sure that there is no way the water can get down to the basement with just gravity. I would say dry pump with check valves in the sump and put the chiller in a tub of some sort with water alarms. You probably don't want 200G of water in your basement. :wink1: It sure is a plumbing...
