Wondering what members on MR have as a setup.Would like to see the percentage of us has what type of reef system in there home. Also is there a reason for the type of reef you have.I have a SPS reef and the reason is i got bored with LPS and softies and wanted to be challenged.

I went with the sps for basically the same reason, after a couple years i said, I gotta see if i can keep the sps at this point.

I cant get away from keeping zoos (love the color differentation) and some lps though, really just a gold torch, a frogspawn and a hammer, because non-reefers who look at the tank love the movement of that type of coral.

I cant tell you how many times non reefers used to look right past the "premium corals" and say they really the loved the pulsing xenia. Even now, the first thing a non reefer focuses on in my tank is the rainbow wellso (thanks kenny). Meanwhile, all i want people to do is look at my blue tort....

I've got a mixed reef. It's going to be mostly zoanthids and some LPS, along with a nice Haddoni carpet.
Just going for the "relax and enjoy it" theme with this tank.

Nice tank charlie. I love my lps too I get bored sometimes though and like to switch it up so I'm always buying new stuff but that goes w/ anything I guess. I like the movement and how they can look different at times like when 1 of my wellsos blows up HUGE meanwhile an hour ago it looked dead LOL. The froggy and torch blowing around. Sps are too much of a pain in the ass you need a calcium reactor, a this reactor, a that reactor, 400 pumps all at different angles immaculate water blah blah and they are just sticks that's boring to me. Not to mention they are expensive and I'm not paying 100 bucks for a 1" piece of anything ever. I know there's cheaper ones but you get what I mean. If you have no life and lots of money then by all means have a crazy full blown sps tank and have fun testing your water every 20 minutes but I personally don't have the time. Maybe when I'm old and rich with no kids to take care of or job to do I'll give it a try LOL.

yo trig its not that complicated.i use one different reactor a calcium reactor.i test my alk every 3 days and Mag every 2 weeks.i dont test for anything else unless i see algae growth thats isnt normally there or if my polyps arent fully extended.the worst part of sps is how many different bugs you need to worry about.also its not expensive if you have good people to trade with.most of my sps was a trade or givin to me.
