Will a RBTA sting sps the reason I ask is I went to Absolutely fish and in their SPS tank they had some RBTA's in with the big $$ sps I have been fighting to keep my RBTA away from my SPS by pileing up rock between my sps and RBTA but I am sure that it has hit it a few time but I dont have any die off of the sps, is the sps immune to the sting from the RBTA, if so that will be great I can take out the missplace rock keeping them apart!!

thanks:scratchch

It stays put but from seeing the rbta so close to the sps in the store I was thinking there should be know problem but wanted to check before letting it strech all the way out!!

heres a pic. the tips of sps touching the rb sometimes are not happy but other times tips look fine. i think the rb stings the sps at time. the rb actually spreads out more and cover the tips of the sps

There is no question that an RBTA will sting SPS and other corals. They aren't that potent compared to other anemones and don't seem to actively try to kill things, but if they touch repeatedly, the RBTA will do lethal damage. Which is why their tendency to wander is so risky in a coral dominated tank. Also, your nice modest sized RBTA will grow very large, very fast if it is happy and take up ALOT of real estate.

Yea Rbta will def kill anything in its path! I had 18 rbta in my tank at a one point and they would walk all over the place killing everything.. Now i have 1 in my sps tank and it just walked! Im taking it out. But i read somewhere thats its beneficial having a bta in a reef tank.

Well... they don't exactly kill everything... my bta is sitting in a pile of xenia for the past month and they are still pulsing away. I don't have any experience with sps though.
