i have a big green birdsnest colony that i didnt acclimate properly and put to high up in the tank. it has lost a good amount of its green. if i place it on the sand is it possible for it to get its color back and will it do ok placed on the sand i have no room on my rocks. all my other sps are doing great params are right on point, alk-8.4 cal-450 salinity-1025 phos-0 nitrate-0. 6 bulb t5 75 gallon tank.

I have about 4-5 different species of BN and IMO they all are very hardy and will grow anywhere with good flow...some will just look better in stronger light while others look better in lower light....so too answer your question you won't hurt it by lowering it to the sand as long as it gets good flow. When it starts getting color back brown or green you can slowly raise it again or if you like the color of it leave it lower...don't be discouraged sometimes it may take months for a coral to color back up.
PS..I have a couple of species of BN that will look totaly different in coloration depending on what light they are getting..
