Just curious but when i get a new frag the piece that i received doesnt seem to grow but when it encrusts it forms new branches and grows great but the original branch doesnt seem to grow. Does this happen to anyone else?

Ive had a piece of german blue digi for about a year now...the orignal branch has not moved at all yet it has encrusted in a 6" diameter all around. It could be due to,too strong of light in the area...hence it doesnt grow up, just out.

After has fully encrusted a couple inches all around, clip the original branch, then it will start growing. But it has to be established bf you do that.

so your saying if i clip the original brach it will start to grow? Buddman im not talking about just the encrusting i have new branches that are taking off but the original doesnt grow at all

It has happened to me as well. The original branch just refuses to grow and there is groth al around it. Sometimes the color is different as well. However, clip it a little at the top and it will grow. At times, mine grow after a period of time on their own.

I've done that clip trick many times..sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't, but worth a shot. I've also had frags just start growing without encrusting much and others that just encrust and do nothing else....
