You're welcome. I'm very happy for you. So what was the actual salinity reading? Be sure to purchase 1.026 calibration fluid and calibrate the refractometer a couple times per month.

1.023 is not that low to cause burnt tips. I bought a bad refract calibration fluid and my salinity went down to 1.018 for god knows how long and never noticed burnt tips. And this happened 5 days ago cant see the burnt tips recovering that fast. You may need to look for something else because something dont seem right. What test kits are you using to test all your parameters?

Duke his actual salinity was 1.028. 1.023 was the reading from hydrometer. IME low salinity won't cause tip burns, only high will. I could be wrong on that though, just never experience tip burn or know of anyone who has from low salinity.

I was under the assumption that higher salinity has less effects on corals then lower salinity? At least that what i have read. Higher salinity effects fish more.

I dunno :) That's why threads like this are useful. If his corals bounce back from adjusting salinity, then we know 1.028 is not good :). I'm sure there are other variables to factor in such as nutrient level and lighting also.....

Yeah it was high salinity not low and has been problematic since January. The tips havent recovered and ive lost around 7 colonies but since ive lowered the salinity to around 1.025 ive noticed polyps are extending once again and all seem happier .I will monitor and post progress .Again cant thank yall enough
