Does anyone use a microscope for there frags to use as another prevention of pests. I was thinking of buying one for the smaller frags of acropora just to look for eggs, red bugs and worms on new frags. I know it wont work on larger colonies but i usually buy 1 to 2 in frags anyway. If you use a microscope does it work for you. I was thinking 100x lense would be effective enough and are pretty cheap

I was and still am interested in buying a microscope and did a lot of research on them. From what I learned microscope is like a photographic lens- you get what you pay for. I was almost ready to buy an Amscope, but I've talked to few people who know a lot about microscopes and what they suggested is to rather spend more money for a brand name microscope than buy something that you might be disappointed in a longer run. Please note that I want to attach a DSLR camera to it. Now my dream microscope is Nikon E200, which, unfortunately, I can't afford at the moment.

You should look for a dissecting scope. It doesn't usually magnify as much but allows for larger specifies to be viewed. I'm sure you can get it however you want it set up though. That's what we would use in bio labs..
