coral gobies eating sps coral!

I have just purchased a pair of coral gobies which I had believed to be reef safe.
They have however taken a liking to the polyps which are now withdrawn on the SPS corals

Gee, that's weird . . . I have a pair of coral gobies and they prefer the leathers and the hairy mushrooms. I rarely see them on the SPS. Are you sure that they are causing damage? they might just be pirched and annoying the coral so that it closes up. All of the corals will get used to them darting around. They are my favorite fish . . . very entertaining.

I have seen many nibble on polyps. I haven't had one eat enough poylops to actualy harm the colony as a whole though. I would keep an eye on them. They are a great little fish if you have enough poylops for them to eat a few without hurting the colony. We have a 300 gallon SPS with about 70 colonies and I have kept the coral goby's in that tank with out worries.
