Belau Aquaculture was one of the operations Larry managed for a while.

Here's one of the largest CV Dinar importers: Leader Aquatics

http://www.zwim.com/

Those corals are carried by many online places. FWIW, I can't be botherred to list them all, but here's a few:

http://www.atlantisaquarium.net/ (just got in like 60 pieces of CV Dinar a few weeks ago)

http://fragfarmer.com/ (stocks CV Dinar and more)

http://phishybusiness.com/ (Stocks CV Dinar and more)

http://www.pacificeastaquaculture.com/ (carries IMT, CV Dinar and more)

I wonder how this seller got the coral from SniperSPS, if it was a freebe or what not.

Definitely not a freebie. He picked up some nice stuff from Hugo couple of weeks ago.

$490 with 8 hours to go.

To rich for my blood and I don't have any play money in my paypal account.

I wanted this one bad too.

Don't bother bidding on it anymore, Louey. If you can wait until May or June, I'll swap a Pink Lemonade frag for a frag of your $500 efflo.

It's called 'greed.' All Americans are born with it, unfortunately.

Actually it is call capitalism, which is not unique to American. The Red Commies mastered it very well...

Deal. Thanks man. My $500 efflo is starting to show some growth and the tips and edges are turning purple. I think it's a slow grower though. But then again, some corals just suddenly take off after awhile. We'll see. Either way, you're first on the list to receive a frag of it.

I never did bid on this piece. It was already at $490 the first time I looked.

And BTW, I never bid until the very end of an auction. You're just running up the number by bidding early.

In some ways this hobby is taking giant leaps backwards.

I don't see how selling a coral on eBay make the hobby take a gaint step backwards. It's not the sellers fault that people want this coral enough to pay rediculous amounts for it.

I think it just shows we have some wealthy reefers out there. Or just plain stupid reefers.

I hope the buyer didn't use his child support money to win that auction. lol

I would just like to say that Karl is THE MAN. Very generous, and always looking out for his fellow reefer. :)

Peace,

I agree, Karl is a great asset to the local CA scene. I think that a lot of the priciness of corals reflects the demand created by new markets, particuliarly in the midwest where there is less of a scene than on the coasts. BTW, Dr. Mac also carries our M/C's and I could probably recommend a local LFS with them but I can't tell where you are from your "location".-Jim :D

If you like it and can afford it then buy it! I don't agree with a lot of the prices but I know damn well if I could afford it I would be paying that much as well. I don't even like Acros that much and this piece is just killer!!!

Just a little hint for you out there that want the coral. It's the same piece that Atlantis sells as their "Shades of Fall Acro"...I picked up a piece of it a couple weeks ago that they had sitting in their frag tray and I don't think they knew about it.
As far as the Ebay price..well that's a function of the buyer, not the seller. Tubs even resopnded by saying that he felt "sheepish" at the price it went for. I don't think he in any way expected it to go that high. Peosonaly I hope that someday I've got a coral that sells like that.

I saw that piece on Atlantis's website and thought that it looked the same as Tubs piece.

I'd be happy with either.

Ah ok, just curious if this guy got a generous trade then was turning around to make a profit or what not. But that's cool :)

Mike - the piece was actually sold on Hugo's behalf. The seller just gets a commision.

I learned that the seller ultimately discounted the auction for the winner. It's really testament to the type of person 'tubs' is. Anyone who knows him, would pretty much say he is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet in this hobby.

Very nice gesture but kinda defeats the purpose of an auction IMHO. I'm sure a few of the first bidders would not be happy to hear this 8O
